Wednesday, September 1
Praise God that the new Christar U.S. office is opening this month in the Dallas, Texas area. Ask God to direct us to effectively use of this wonderful office facility and training center.
PRAYING LIGHT INTO THE HINDU WORLD
Thursday, September 2
Give praise with us for the ministry of a number of interns who assisted at a community center in South Asia this past summer. Pray that the Lord will guide them in regard to long-term service.
Friday, September 3
Ask the Lord to guide and bless a community center in South Asia. Ask that it would be a place where the needs of entire families are addressed.
Saturday, September 4
Two new missionaries and four students took part in a week of training in Hindu Evangelism in South Asia. Ask that God would direct some of the students to long-term service in South Asia.
Sunday, September 5
In answer to much prayer, a school serving missionary families in South Asia has a new principal. Ask God to provide visas for teachers that need them. Ask for encouragement for the students and staff as they begin a new school term. Pray that the Lord would bring about both academic and spiritual growth in the lives of the students.
Monday, September 6
Ask the Lord to bless a new lay leadership course in South Asia. Pray for an Asian pastor as he finishes his preparations to teach the course. Another national pastor is recuperating from bypass surgery; pray for his health and ministry.
Tuesday, September 7
Our workers recently had the opportunity to share spiritual truths with a friend who had phoned saying he wanted to be baptized! Pray for this young man as Christar missionaries teach and disciple him.
Wednesday, September 8
John and Marilyn work with Hindus and Hindu-background believers in Holland. Ask the Lord to continue to bless Marilyn’s women’s Bible study; the group that has shown much spiritual growth. Pray for the deliverance of a new believer who has slipped back into drug abuse.
Thursday, September 9
Mike leads a study with Hindu-background believing men in Holland. Ask for God to use this study to bring about spiritual growth in the house church. Pray for the salvation of friends with whom he’s shared for a number of years.
Friday, September 10
Pray for the Ryons as they lead a Bible study in England among Hindu-background believers. Ask the Lord to use it to encourage believers to stand firm amid opposition from their families. Also, they need the Lord’s guidance as they follow up with those who attended annual family camp last month.
Saturday, September 11
Praise God for providing the finances needed for a family to return to ministry in South Asia. Ask God to enable them to reopen a fitness center as an outreach to the women of the community.
Sunday, September 12
Praise God that the New Testament is now available in the Maithili language. Pray that the distribution of this precious resource in South Asia would be unhindered.
Monday, September 13
Praise God that through a summer outreach, two Gujarati background believers reached out to several Hindus who had never heard the gospel. Ask that God will bring fruit from this outreach as Christar missionaries continue to follow up with these men and women.
Tuesday, September 14
Ask that a Christar missionary on furlough might be renewed and refreshed. She desires to return to South Asia and work in a center for autistic children. Ask that God might open this door, so she can minister there, and so she can obtain a long-term visa.
Wednesday, September 15
Continue to pray about the visa situations in South Asia and the U.K. Ask that visas would be granted, and that new regulations would not be too disruptive to ministry.
PRAYING LIGHT INTO IMMIGRANT COMMUNITIES IN NORTH AMERICA
Thursday, September 16
Praise God with us for the successful Iranian outreach concert held this summer in the Washington, D.C. area and for the encouraging response. A number of Iranians are asking to know more and wanting to attend church services. Pray for Steve and Kathi as they follow up with these new contacts. Ask God to continue the work he’s begun in many hearts.
Friday, September 17
Lift up Gary and Beth’s ministry in the Japanese fellowship in Lancaster County. Pray, too, for the children they were able to minister to this summer through day camps.
Saturday, September 18
Rejoice that evangelical Persian CDs, DVDs and literature have arrived in a country in the Middle East. Ask that they might be widely distributed and used to bring many to salvation and spiritual maturity.
Sunday, September 19
Mike and Trudy are befriending and sharing spiritual truths with Hindu friends in the Atlanta area. Building relationships can be slow and discouraging at times. Intercede on their behalf for spiritual fruit from their outreach. Also, ask that God would use a Bible study Mike is creating for new believers.
Monday, September 20
Lift up Tom and Peg as they reach out to Bohra Muslims in the Houston area. Pray God would supply needed finances so they can spend more time in ministry. Ask the Lord to enable them to share with their friends through the cricket club they participate in. Continue to pray that God would bless their ministry website through which they have made contacts and been able to share God’s truth.
Tuesday, September 21
Ask that God would use and bless the ministry of the South Asian Friendship Center in Chicago. Pray for wisdom as missionaries follow up with contacts made at a summer block party. Pray that God would provide more tutors/teachers for the English as a second language classes in which Doug and Margaret are involved.
Wednesday, September 22
Lift up a young man who was recently deported from Canada after his lengthy pursuit of political asylum was denied. Pray for his heart to be softened and that he might respond to the gospel. Intercede for Eldon and Ruth as they work with other Muslim-background believers.
Thursday, September 23
Ask God to guide Dick and Cindy as they visit Muslims in the area around their church. Ask God to give them wisdom regarding how best to reach out to those in their area.
Friday, September 24
Ask the Lord to use the distribution of 5,000 DVDs on the life of Christ in the New Jersey area. Give praise with Paul and Ilse for the financial provision for this project; ask the Lord to guide in the follow-up.
Saturday, September 25
Norm and Fran encourage many Turkish friends in the Houston area daily, and keep in touch with many friends from overseas on a regular basis. Ask that God would guide them and give wisdom in their interactions. Pray with them for the Lord’s provision of their full financial support.
Sunday, September 26
Ask the Lord to bless and guide as Carol begins a regular ladies’ tea for Kurdish women. Pray for perseverance for Carol and her husband Brian, and for a spiritual breakthrough with their Kurdish friends.
Monday, September 27
Last month, all Christar missionaries who work in North America received training in how to communicate most effectively with oral learners—those who learn best by hearing truth rather than reading it. Pray that as a result, they would be more effective in their work with immigrants.
Tuesday, September 28
Two missionary couples are working with Turks in New Jersey. Join them in praying for 50 believers and seekers to be a part of the Anatolian Grace Church by the end of the year.
Wednesday, September 29
This summer Peggy gave Turkish children the big picture of God’s work in the world through a “Walk through the Old Testament.” Ask that the three believing children would grow in their faith and the two unbelieving children would trust Christ for their salvation. |
Thursday, September 30
Give thanks for good contacts for Lita in the Houston area. Ask for the Lord to work in the lives of the women with whom she’s sharing the gospel and discipling. Praise God that three women have trusted Christ this year!
