Praise God with us that we received the funds to pay for several of the larger items we need for the Training Center, including the ventilation hood for over the dishwasher, a commercial icemaker and all the furniture we need for the breakout room!

Also, please pray that we will have power in the building soon; we’ve run into some issues with the electrical work. Ask that these issues will not delay the completion of construction.

As God continues to lead Christar to Texas, we like to present stories of His faithfulness. Why Move recounts how God led us to sell our building in Reading, Pennsylvania and how He provided the new building in Richardson, Texas. The Miller Story and the Luna Story are two examples of God's faithfulness and sovereignty in providing homes for our staff members in Texas.

It’s been a busy week so far! We’re excited that demolition is finished and construction is underway! Electricians have begun working throughout the building and the installation of our heating and cooling system has begun. Over the last few days we picked out paint, tile, carpets, finishes for cabinetry, so we’re getting an idea of how the finished product will look.

Relocation update from Bob Kilgore, director of Christar U.S.

I’ve just returned from Richardson, Texas where I met with three contractors who bid on the remodeling of our new office building and training center. Wait until you see how God worked!

We thought we had seen God work in amazing ways already—but we hadn’t seen anything yet! Over the coming weeks, I’ll give you the whole story of what the Lord has been doing and continues to do as we transition to our new office building in Richardson, Texas—in meantime, here’s just a summary!

  • He provided a buyer for our office in Reading before we even put it on the market.
  • He provided a church who has graciously allowed us to keep working in the basement of our old building for the past 10 months.
  • He has continually reaffirmed His leading, selling several workers’ homes in Pennsylvania in just a few days, and providing new homes in the Dallas area.
  • He provided a building in the Dallas area that will allow us to better serve our missionaries, missionary candidates and supporters.

But we hadn’t seen anything yet!
Here’s what God did in less than 24 hours!

  • 11 p.m. Tuesday, June 22—After many days of meetings and discussions with contractors, much perspiration and multiple proposals for the renovation of our new office building, I still did not know how I would decide on the right contractor. Before falling asleep, I asked the Lord for the 100th time point me to the right one.
  • 6 a.m. Wednesday, June 23—I woke up with fear and trembling, and prayed that one of the new reworked bids would be at least $20,000 less than the others.
  • 10 a.m. Wednesday—The first bid came in at almost $50,000 less than the original bid price. My heart sank—it placed that bid within $1,000 of the other bid I had already received. Now how would I decide?
  • 2:30 p.m. Wednesday—With the clock ticking down to my departure for home, I met with Construction Zone of Texas.
  • 3 p.m. Wednesday—Construction Zone’s new bid was $22,000 less than the other bid—more than the $20,000 difference I had prayed for! But God did even more! Construction Zone was able to negotiate free installation of some our kitchen equipment, saving us another $10,000!
  • 4 p.m. Wednesday—With time running out, we went directly to city hall to pick up the building permit. The plans were completely accepted by the building inspector! That almost NEVER happens! As a result, construction began Monday, June 28!

The current plans call for completion of these renovations on September 8, 2010. We are trusting God to provide the $100,000 needed to complete the kitchen, movable wall and furnishings for the training center.
